Autumn Days

I am aware that I have been really slack on the blogging front lately, sorry everybody! My mind has been everywhere at the moment….. work, holiday, toddler developments, driving lessons and diy projects have left my head in a spin! Time to unwind, put on some cosy pyjamas and think of lovely, snuggly autumn thoughts…..

I loved making Halloween fun last year and I am even more excited about this year. I am just a big kid at heart really! If you have an Aldi near you (UK bloggers) head over to the store this Thursday for the latest Special Buys deal as they have a great range of Halloween accessories available!

Cosy Knits

Not quite thick, chunky jumper time, but there is a definite nip in the air. I purchased a couple of new knits last year, so my winter wardrobe is pretty much sorted. I have purchased myself two new jumpers. My first jumper is a grey marl sweatshirt with a mickey picture and ‘Mickey’ in sequin letters (cannot find on their website, but here is another good option). My other new jumper was from the Zara website……

pompom sweater
Zara Mustard PomPom Jumper

I saw Zoella wear it in one of her autumn haul videos and fell in love. Its the perfect mustard colour for autumn, is oversized and has POMPOMS!!!! It will look great with skinny jeans and a berry or brown lip colour. Love it, love it, love it! Check it out here.

Autumn Food

I need some good slow cooker recipes, please share if you have any! I love soups, stews, curries and casseroles. I just think it might make life a bit easier for me if I could get more use out of my slow cooker at weekends. I love sponge puddings and custard at this time of year. Oh and I am a sucker for mince pies (already available in our local co-op)!

What do you love about autumn? Do you like snuggling up on the sofa when it is nippy outside? Have you got any recipe or craft project ideas to share?

I bid you all a good evening. Ta ta and nighty night xxx

Primark newbie haul

Primark for the very first time!

I have never shopped in Primark before! Why not I hear you ask? Well, I guess it just always seemed like this huge shopping mega store with the most horrendous queues. Pretty scary when you have a toddler in tow, little patience and not a lot of time! But all the while I keep hearing positive comments about how cheap and fashionable the products are. I was itching to give it a go and yesterday was one of those rare days where I got the opportunity to do a bit of child free shopping. Bingo! I had some ideas in mind of what I wanted to look for before I went into the shop –

  • Summer hat for the little tyke
  • Little shorts for the little tyke
  • Zip lock bags or toiletry bags
  • New ruck sack for nursery
  • Trinket dish (rose gold preferably)
  • Throws
  • Pastel coloured sweatshirts (I’m loving the trend)
  • Sandals
  • Beach bag

Summer Hat

The cutest and smartest beach hat for the little chap

WIN! This smart little hat is from Primarks ‘Rebel’ range and is sized 2-4 years. It is a lovely brown colour and is finished with a black and white ribbon trim. Priced at £3.00.

Boys Shorts

These shorts can be dressed smart or casual

WIN! These little green utility shorts are perfect for my little boy. Everything is falling down on him at the moment, so the drawstring will come in handy. No more loose waistbands. They also have little pockets and zip detail. Priced at £6.00.

Zip Bags

Perfect for makeup, toiletries and first aid bits

WIN! These simple little bags will do just the job when we next go on holiday. I wanted something clear so I can instantly make out the contents. I used plastic shopping bags on our last trip. We can do better than that. Priced at £3.00 (I think… lost the tag).

Nursery ruck sack

FAIL! I couldn’t find any bags for the boys. Was I looking in wrong place?

Trinket dish

FAIL! A ceramic cactus dish was not what I had in mind.

FAIL! Not great for what I want. They were all soft and fleecy and well….. a bit girly. Perfect for snuggling on a winters day, but not for putting over a chair.

Pastel coloured sweatshirt

FAIL! I wasn’t that sure if the shape of the sweaters would suit me. They all seemed a bit short and I like a little bit of cover up on the tum tum area. If you know what I mean.

FAIL! Too. Many. To. Choose. From. Next.

Beach bag

WIN! Oooooo look at this beauty! It only cost seven bleeding pounds! Who could tell?

Bonus item – Unicorn Pjs

Excuse the creased sheets…. oops

100% Unicorn

Does this make me officially fashionable? Or perhaps a bit of a big kid at heart? I have to say that I really, really liked the selection of nightwear on offer. I might just have to go back and get some more. Central Perk Pjs for me please.

So I guess I kind of enjoyed my little Primark shop. The queue wasnt too bad and I got served pretty quickly. I am not sure I have the patience or time to look at all of the clothes, but I was a big fan of the accessories and the home bits. What do you think to shopping in Primark? Is it yey or nay for you?

Have a lovely evening all, nighty night and ta ta xxx

Sunshine Blogger Award

I am aware that this is a very late post, life has just got in the way of everything recently. Ho hum, that’s how it goes! The very lovely Katherine of Welcome to the Nursery nominated me for a Sunshine Blogger Award a little while ago and I thought it was about time I answer her questions:) Thank you Catherine, big hugs to you! I will also spread the sunshine by nominating some blogger friends and ask them to answer 10 questions. Please accept my nomination my lovely WordPress chums xxx

Here goes….

When were you happiest in the last week and why? Sunday, because the sun was shining and we could all play outdoors! When the little tyke went for a nap, we also took the opportunity to sit in the garden with a lovely cup of tea while the sun beamed down on us (don’t worry I had the baby monitor with me!). Bliss!

Do you have a favorite creative endeavor? Drawing and writing. Now I am a Mummy, I love drawing and doodling with the little man. He really loves painting too! He is such a creative little fella…… an artist in the making me thinks 🙂

What’s your favorite drink (if you drink alcohol)? Champagne, if money is no object. If we are on a budget, a bottle of bud will do the job. I do realise those two choices make me go from very ladylike to sooooo un-ladylike.

Who makes you laugh the most? Oh gosh this is a tough one. My brother really makes me laugh a lot, we share the same warped sense of humour. Must run in the family!

What is your dream profession? Lady of leisure…. only joking. I like the job I do most of the time. It has it’s moments like most jobs.

Do you have a big life goal on your bucket list? What is it? To go on a California road trip with my son and husband. That would be awesome!!!

If you could live any celebrity or athlete’s life, whose would it be? I wouldn’t want to be famous and I do not have any interest in celebrities. Actually, I would like to be the Queen, wouldn’t it be interesting to be the Queen for a day!

Do you tend a garden? What are your favorite bits in it? Do hanging baskets and mowing the lawn count? We have a lovely weeping willow in our garden and we tell our son it is the magic tree. He loves to hide behind it and we have to pretend that we don’t know where he has gone. Cheeky monkey!

What is your favorite sport to do? Oh I am so not sporty! I like walking.

What was your favorite travel spot so far? Its between two, Mexico and California.

I would like to nominate…..

Hello strangers

Hello strangers, its been a little while since my last post! The reason being that I had a pretty crappy week last week. Where do I start? Ummm lets run through it shall we…..

So, one of my members of staff asked to speak with me before anybody came into office. I spent the previous evening racking my mind thinking about what it could possibly involve. Before everybody came into the office we sat down in a private room and it all poured out. I am really not sure how comfortable I am with sharing the full details of this story at this moment in time, but I promise that I will divulge more in the future. All I will say is that it relates to a person who took my maternity cover and has been behaving in a very nasty and devious manner ever since my return. Its been an 18 month long nightmare which I have not shared on here before.

I had to dash off into the Management meeting with seconds to spare. Ten minutes later I received a phone call asking me to pick up the little tyke because he had been sick at nursery. The poor little man was picked up straight away.

I also had to keep the little chap at home today as this is the nursery policy for sickness. Throughout the day, I received and had to make various phonecalls relating to the work issue. The little tyke hadn’t been sick since nursery but had gone off his food. By Tuesday afternoon he felt heaps better and ate really well.

Little tyke back at nursery and I returned to work. I was fine until I went out for lunch with my MD and I completely lost my appetite. I just couldn’t eat. The very thought made me feel sick. By the end of the afternoon I had to rush to the toilets to be sick and I felt awful. When I got home I went straight to bed after my little boy had gone to sleep. I was so tired, drained, cold and sick.

Reluctantly I had to take the day off sick. I really didnt want to after taking so much time off (I dont work Fridays either), but I just couldnt face it. Nearly the whole day was spent in bed and I couldn’t eat a thing.

Stay at home Friday. I had to suck it up and look after the little man today. Luckily I felt a bit better and started to eat a bit. Gosh its hard to look after toddlers when you are sick and have no energy! Oh and now the little man had caught a cold!

I am pleased to say that things improved by Sunday and we managed to go out for a lovely family meal to celebrate my husbands birthday. My husband and I have also been out for the day today (as it is his actual birthday) and I will put up a new post about this in the next few days.

Hope you all had better weeks! Ta ta for now folks xxx

Day in the Life: 11th March 2017

So, this is the start of a new series of posts that I would like to do which follows our typical activities as a family during one day at the weekend. Each weekend is different. Sometimes we stay in the house or in the local area, and other weekends we will plan a fun day out for our little tyke. Hope you enjoy….

Saturday 11th March 2016

5:45am – The little tyke is up. Why? Why? Maybe he will drift back to sleep. Maybe if we are all very quiet he will drift back to sleep (fat chance). Ever since Friday I have felt a bit achy and tired, a dreaded cold is trying to take over my body and I’m trying to fight it. I went to bed at 9pm the night before and I still feel tired! Need more sleep.

5:55am – He’s not going back to sleep and the cat is meowing like crazy downstairs. We all get up to get his milk and cups of tea. Good Morning everybody!

6:20am – Baby Jakes on. Awww we all love Baby Jake. The little tyke dances along on my knee to Baby Jakes song “Yacki Yacki Yoggi”. Then its time to switch over to Peppa, while we try to motivate ourselves. Quick check of emails though first.

7:10am – Breakfast time. The little chap is having rice crispies today, followed by some toast. My husband also has his breakfast while I have a quick tidy of the kitchen. Oh dammit, the floor is covered in milk and crispies. I am on my hands and knees cleaning it all up. Urgh.

7:20am – Dirty nappy time. What fun! We also put him into his day clothes, wash his face and brush his teeth. Lovely, all set for the day now.

10:05am – Trying to leave the house. I have a hair appointment in 10 minutes.

10:15am – Made it in time. Ok I tell a lie, we were a couple of minutes late because I had to queue for the cashpoint. I put on the gown, sit in the chair and relax. Time for some long-awaited me time. I decide to go a little bit shorter with my hair for a change, nothing too drastic. A strange man comes into the salon and books an appointment with one of the young girls and before he leaves, he tells her that he has written her a poem and gives her a card! Everybody goes silent until he leaves. It transpires that he had written her a poem after his last hair appointment, declaring his attraction to her (the guy is very, very peculiar). She reads out his new poem and the whole salon erupts with laughter, myself included (you had to hear it). My hairdresser tells me that it is not uncommon for lonely men to become infatuated with stylists. She then tells me a funny story about a man who did something very naughty under his gown once years ago and how she handled it. I couldnt stop laughing.

11:15am – Back home. My husband has had enough of babysitting and wants to get out of the house. We decide to go out for the afternoon and the little chap will probably nap on the way there. I put all the essentials in the backpack and we are ready to go.

12:30pm – We have reached our destination but the little chap is asleep and I want him to nap some more. We read papers/magazines while we wait.

1pm – We go into the Mercado Lounge in Market Harborough for a lovely lunch (will do a review this week).

3:10pm – Mooch around town and then pop into Jojo Maman Bebe. It’s too expensive, yes I know! But the clothes and little toys are so adorable. The little boys clothes are all nautical and stripey and the little girls clothes are all frilly and floral. Every time I come out, I’m left planning the wardrobe of another unborn child. No wonder my husband isn’t over enthusiastic when I suggest going in. I decide not to go mad and stick to a pack of little animal socks. Besides, he really does need some socks.

4pm – Back home. The little tyke is out in the garden kicking the football with his Daddy whilst I put together a light supper for him. Plus I treat myself to a cup of tea.

5pm – Doorbell rings and my magic mop has arrived! Yippee! I watched a video of another Mummys cleaning routine and she recommend this mop from Amazon – Addis Spray Mop. The box for it is huge, but the mop is not really that huge. Nevermind, the little tyke dives into the big box with the scrunched up paper and uses it as a huge ball pit type plaything for about an hour and a half.

6:20pm – The little tyke is getting tired and comes to sit on the sofa with Mummy. He really snuggles in and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Oh, it’s moments like this that I could treasure forever. Love him so much.

7:05pm – The little tyke is asleep in bed. He really did tire himself out with his makeshift ball pit. My husband and I have our dinner and then sit on the sofa with some gluten free brownies that I made on Friday. Yum yum.

10:05pm – Early night for us. How very rock and roll.

Thats all for one evening, ta ta and good night xx

Putting yourself out there

I started this blog for the simple reason that I wanted to learn more about WordPress and blogging. Well, I started the blog up and didn’t touch it again for another 9 months until I felt a bit more energized after having a baby. So now here I am and the little tyke is 20 months old and I have built up a nice little following of bloggers (big hugs to you all!). So what now? Where next?

I have seen other Mummy bloggers put all their efforts into their blog, they link to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and work with companies to promote their goods. Good on them I say, but is that for me? I am not sure if it is. I just don’t think I could put myself out there like that. Half of me is tempted, if not for the challenge, but the other half wants to shrink and hide away with shyness.

I don’t think I would ever want to be famous or recognized. I don’t like to attract attention to myself. I am in no way as shy as I once was, but I still don’t think I could put myself out there in the same way other Mummy bloggers have.

I like my small community of followers and I love hearing what you have to say. I have learned so much from you all and for this, I am truly thankful. Maybe one day I will find more time and motivation to put towards blogging, but in the meantime, I am happy for things to stay as they are. If anybody has any advice, tips or experience that they would like to share, I am all ears.

Ta ta for now my lovelies xxx

The Blogger Tag – More About Me Than You Ever Wanted To Know

I would just like to start this post by thanking the lovely Katherine from Welcome To The Nursery for tagging me to answer these questions. I will try my best to answer these questions this evening (I’m terribly sleep deprived mind, the little tyke has a stinking cold), so here goes…..

Question 1: How tall are you?

I am a petite to average 5’5″. My height has never really bothered me, apart from when I used to go to music concerts and would to have to stand on tiptoes to see.

Question 2: Do you have a hidden talent?

I wouldn’t say it is a ‘hidden’ talent as such, but I have always been quite arty and creative and this has led me to my chosen career. All whilst I was growing up, I was determined to become an artist and was pushed into this direction by my teachers. I went to study Fine Art and hated it! By a stroke of luck I got the chance to be a junior at a design agency and loved it:)

Question 3: What’s your biggest blog-related pet peeve?

This is a really tough one. I suppose posts that are really text heavy and ramble on far longer than they should. I think its better to be more punchy and to the point.

Question 4: What’s your biggest non-related blog pet peeve?

People who like to talk but not to listen. Who wants a one way conversation? It really bugs me!

Question 5: What’s your favorite song?

Another tricky one, why does it have to be one? Michelle by The Beatles perhaps. It brings back memories of my childhood riding in the back of my dads car on holiday, listening to his 60s mix tape. If I could choose a second song, it would have to be Stay (I Missed You) by Lisa Loeb.

Question 6: What’s your favorite social media website?

YouTube without a doubt. I would never have the confidence to vlog myself, but love to watch other Mummy vloggers such as Emily Norris and Anna Saccone Joly. Its a nice thing to do whilst the little tyke is having a nap.

Question 7: What’s your favorite way to spend your time when you’re alone?

Alone? Well I am very rarely alone anymore, but I like to watch a tv box set or a film with my husband in the evening. I love to read also. We haven’t had many babysitting opportunities so far, but this doesn’t bother us much. We are however, planning on going on a nice day out for my husbands birthday whilst the little man is in nursery. We look forward to a grown up day together to give us a little break.

Question 8: What’s your favorite junk food?

Ooooo a lovely bit of cake. My cake of choice?….. coffee and walnut, yum yum!

Question 9: Do you have a pet or pet(s)? If so, what kind and what are their names?

Phoebe the laziest cat in Britain. Its true!

Question 10: What are your number one favorite non-fiction and fiction books?

Hmmmm another tough question. The fiction book that I have read time and time again is the very funny Bridget Jones Diary. Its my ultimate comfort read. For my non-fiction choice, its got to be anything by Charlie Brooker. If you haven’t heard of him, check him out!

Question 11: What’s your favorite beauty product or tool?

At the moment, a hair brush, theres not much time for anything else! Only kidding, its not that bad. I guess some nice nail polish can help lift my mood and make me feel a little more girly.

Question 12: When were you last embarrassed? What happened?

I can’t really remember anything in particular.

Question 13: If you could only drink one beverage (besides water) for the rest of your life what would it be?

Tea please. But I really do think I would get bored of it eventually.

Question 14: What’s your favorite movie?

I have watched so many movies over the years so I really cannot pick one as my favourite. I loved adventure movies as a kid like The Goonies, Indiana Jones and Star Wars.

Question 15: What was your favorite lesson at school?

Art (as mentioned in the answer to question 2)

Question 16: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?

Sausalito, California. My husband and I stayed at a hotel on the bay before we fell pregnant with our little boy. Its such a lovely, quaint, little town and we would love to go back.

Question 17: PC or Mac?

Its Mac every time!

Question 18: Last romantic gesture from a crush, date, boy/girlfriend, spouse?

Ummmm…. I can’t remember. My husband isn’t really the soppy type, but it doesn’t stop him from being the most wonderful man I know.

Question 19: Favorite celebrity?

I don’t have one.

Question 20: What blogger do you secretly want to be best friends with?

This is too strange a question for me to answer.

Question 21: Who is your biggest inspiration?

My Mum and my husband.

Question 22: What is your favorite blog to read?

I don’t have a favourite, there are too many great ones to pick from.

Question 23: What is your favorite high street shop?

Topshop. I do feel a bit old when I go in the store, its full of teenagers. I like the clothes, so tend to order the clothes off the internet.

Question 24: Are you in education or do you work?

I work.

Question 25: One thing you are proud of?

My family. My husband and my little boy are my world.
