Another Primark Haul

primark love

I’m loving Primark at the moment!!! I have to admit that I have been caught by the bug and I quite enjoy rummaging around for some new goodies! Last weekend we had another opportunity to do a spot of child free shopping and I fancied nipping into Primark to get another pair of cosy pj’s. I got a bit carried away…… want to see? –

Jungle Book Pyjamas

I saw one of my fave Mummy vloggers with a Little Mermaid set of pyjamas and I couldn’t resist hunting them down. Could I find them? Nope! The Primark nightwear department is pretty extensive so I needn’t despair. This is where I found this pretty pyjama set in pink and gold colours, which is very on trend. It’s a perfect set for the summertime in a very lightweight cotton material and is super comfy! Look at the pretty tropical flower detail on the trousers…. love them! RRP – £10.00

Boys Cuban Print Hawaiian Shirt

I couldn’t resist having a little look at the boys section in the childrens department. This shirt is perfect for the little tyke to take on his beach holiday. It is made in a lovely lightweight cotton material and features a cute Cuban themed pattern. RRP – £6.00

Boys Blue Hawaiian Shirt

I found a similar style shirt in a cool blue colour with a Hawaiian flower print. This again will be perfect for our beach holiday. He will look like such a cool little dude! RRP – £6.00

Aztec Print Flip Flops

90p!!!!!!!! How can  I say no? They were actually a last minute purchase, spotted as I was on my way to the till. Had I had a little bit more time I would have picked up a couple of more pairs. Next time I go into Primark I am heading straight to the shoes area for a proper browse!!! RRP – £0.90p

Have any of you been into Primark lately? Have you got any good recommendations for things to look out for? I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions:)

Until next time my lovelies, nighty night and ta ta xxx

Two year old birthday party ideas

As mentioned on my previous post ‘23 Month Update‘, we have started to think about our little boys 2nd birthday party. What do you do to mark such an occasion? Well to start with, we need to pick a theme……..

The Gruffalo

Pros: One of the little tykes favourite books in the whole world. Its a little bit quirky. You can tie it in with some woodland themed accessories. Kids of all ages would enjoy.

Cons: You would struggle to find a ready made Gruffalo cake. There are not as many gruffalo themed party accessories available.

Peppa Pig

Pros: Involves lots of pastel colours, but mostly pink and blue. There are tons and tons of Peppa and George merchandise available. You can easily buy a Peppa Pig birthday cake in the supermarket without having to make one yourself.

Cons: Too popular and not very original. Off putting for any older kids attending.

Thomas the Tank Engine

Pros: Thomas is probably our little mans favourite tv character. He loves trains. You can get train or Thomas themed party accessories. Blue and red is nice and bright for a party.

Cons: I am struggling to find a ready made Thomas cake. I don’t have time to make a cake and I am not very experienced when it comes to baking.

Pros: The little man just loves dinosaurs and dinosaur toys. You could do a mix of jungle and dinosaur themed accessories.

Cons: I cant really think of any, except it might be a bit old for him at the moment.

Jungle Safari

Pros: You can use lots of different animal toys and accessories. There are lots of jungle themed music that you could have in the background. Its lovely and colourful.

Pros: It might not be his favourite theme.

Final decision…… Thomas the Tank Engine

We were thinking more on the lines of the dinosaur party but as he is having a joint party we decided on something that both boys like – Thomas the Tank Engine. Its going to be good fun planning this party actually and I look forward to putting up more posts relating to this!

Have a nice evening folks, ta ta xxx

23 Month Update

beach walk

Can you believe we are talking about your 2nd birthday little tyke? I just can’t believe how quickly the past year has gone! The first year felt like five years, but the second year has whizzed by! Our last update was at 19 months, but even in those few months you have changed so much!

Words and Sounds

It’s taken some time but you are getting there. So far you can say a variety of individual words such as “Daddy”, “Mummy”, “Cat”, “Car”, “Dog, “Banana” and “Ball”. You like to sing songs and some of the words can be quite clear sometimes. You love making animal and vehicle noises, especially dinosaur noises “Raaaaaarrrr!!!”.

You can play with other children now and like to play ball games. Much to Daddys delight, you like football! I think your favourite toys would probably be your slide and your cars. You are also a crafty little man and love painting.

TV & Film

At the moment you like Thomas the Tank Engine, Octonauts, In the Night Garden, Tellytubbies and Peppa Pig. Also, Mr Tumble sends you into a strange little trance, what is it about that guy? He bugs the heck out out of me, but you seem to like him. You don’t have the patience to sit and watch a whole film but you have watched quite a bit of Finding Dory. Great taste little man!

You love, love, love your food. I think we are very lucky with you because you will try most things. I think your favourite foods are bananas, grapes, biscuits, cheese corn snacks, roast dinners and spaghetti bolognaise. Oh and like Mummy, your favourite treat is a bit of cake!

You fit into 2-3 year old clothes for the length, but the waist bands on the trousers seem too large. So your trousers keep falling down! I try to put hats on you but you pull them straight off. I have managed to get you to wear sunglasses though!

You are a funny little laddie. For such a long time you were as good as gold when eating out but most recently you have become such an impatient little fidget! It can quite frankly be a bit of a nightmare. Shopping is also a no no at the minute. Thank the lord for internet shopping is all I say!

New experiences

You have just come back from your first holiday and have also experienced your first trip on a plane. I was well prepared with snacks and entertainment, but you fell asleep! Just as we took off the ground! We have our big holiday in September, fingers crossed you do as well on the next flight.

I look back fondly on the past year little tyke, but look forward to all the changes and developments for the following year. Next year you will be three and just thinking about that makes me a little bit emotional. My baby boy is growing up, but I couldn’t be prouder of you little tyke. Love you lots and lots, Mummy xxxx

Primark newbie haul

Primark for the very first time!

I have never shopped in Primark before! Why not I hear you ask? Well, I guess it just always seemed like this huge shopping mega store with the most horrendous queues. Pretty scary when you have a toddler in tow, little patience and not a lot of time! But all the while I keep hearing positive comments about how cheap and fashionable the products are. I was itching to give it a go and yesterday was one of those rare days where I got the opportunity to do a bit of child free shopping. Bingo! I had some ideas in mind of what I wanted to look for before I went into the shop –

  • Summer hat for the little tyke
  • Little shorts for the little tyke
  • Zip lock bags or toiletry bags
  • New ruck sack for nursery
  • Trinket dish (rose gold preferably)
  • Throws
  • Pastel coloured sweatshirts (I’m loving the trend)
  • Sandals
  • Beach bag

Summer Hat

The cutest and smartest beach hat for the little chap

WIN! This smart little hat is from Primarks ‘Rebel’ range and is sized 2-4 years. It is a lovely brown colour and is finished with a black and white ribbon trim. Priced at £3.00.

Boys Shorts

These shorts can be dressed smart or casual

WIN! These little green utility shorts are perfect for my little boy. Everything is falling down on him at the moment, so the drawstring will come in handy. No more loose waistbands. They also have little pockets and zip detail. Priced at £6.00.

Zip Bags

Perfect for makeup, toiletries and first aid bits

WIN! These simple little bags will do just the job when we next go on holiday. I wanted something clear so I can instantly make out the contents. I used plastic shopping bags on our last trip. We can do better than that. Priced at £3.00 (I think… lost the tag).

Nursery ruck sack

FAIL! I couldn’t find any bags for the boys. Was I looking in wrong place?

Trinket dish

FAIL! A ceramic cactus dish was not what I had in mind.

FAIL! Not great for what I want. They were all soft and fleecy and well….. a bit girly. Perfect for snuggling on a winters day, but not for putting over a chair.

Pastel coloured sweatshirt

FAIL! I wasn’t that sure if the shape of the sweaters would suit me. They all seemed a bit short and I like a little bit of cover up on the tum tum area. If you know what I mean.

FAIL! Too. Many. To. Choose. From. Next.

Beach bag

WIN! Oooooo look at this beauty! It only cost seven bleeding pounds! Who could tell?

Bonus item – Unicorn Pjs

Excuse the creased sheets…. oops

100% Unicorn

Does this make me officially fashionable? Or perhaps a bit of a big kid at heart? I have to say that I really, really liked the selection of nightwear on offer. I might just have to go back and get some more. Central Perk Pjs for me please.

So I guess I kind of enjoyed my little Primark shop. The queue wasnt too bad and I got served pretty quickly. I am not sure I have the patience or time to look at all of the clothes, but I was a big fan of the accessories and the home bits. What do you think to shopping in Primark? Is it yey or nay for you?

Have a lovely evening all, nighty night and ta ta xxx

Toddler airport tips

toddler travel

We have not long arrived back from our first family holiday with our little boy and I thought I would put together this post with some tips on how to make travelling by air with toddlers easier. The little tyke is 23 months old now and this week long holiday involved a short airplane journey back to the island of Jersey of where I originate from. I have to say that I felt incredibly nervous about the whole trip but am glad to say that we all had a pretty nice time. He had his moments though, believe me! My word, he can be a little rascal at times! I just think that everything was so new and strange to him, that it threw him off course a little. Now he’s back home, he is totally back on track.

Enough of my rambling, heres my tips……

Don’t bother with a Trunki

The little man does have a Trunki, of which he has used on a short weekend to the seaside but I didn’t intend to use it on this trip. Besides, with him being under two, he didn’t have luggage allowance for it. I think I would leave it another year or two before I let him take it on holiday. I just know that we would end up lugging it around and with a toddler who wants to run off in the opposite direction, it isn’t ideal!

Keep your travel documents in a wallet

Now I didn’t do this, but I intend to find a nice plastic zip up wallet for my next holiday to keep my passports/tickets/boarding cards/hire car paperwork. We were the last people on the plane there and back, due to us having to dig around our humongous back pack for our boarding cards! Save yourself some time people, get a travel wallet!

Pay for fast track at security

Have you seen the queues at security? My little tyke doesn’t have the patience and would have had a meltdown if we hadn’t pre-booked the fast track lane.

Tire the little monkeys out before you get on the plane

He fell asleep just as the plane left the ground on the way there and back! He didn’t even wake up when we landed! Amazing! I am guessing this is fluke, but it helped that we let him play and run around the airport before we boarded. Airports sometimes have soft play or activity areas that can help entertain children.

If they don’t sleep, be prepared

We brought along a cute little lunchbox with some little snacks that included mini cheddars, muesli bar, yoghurt raisins and a fruit smoothie. I bought a couple of little new toys and a comic with stickers to entertain him. I also found a sticker book from Amazon with funny faces. Failing all of that, the iPad will save you.

Get yourself a lightweight foldable stroller

Our regular pushchair is an absolute pain to fit into cars. I found a new stroller from Mountain Buggy that folds up so small, it can fit in a little bag. It’s really lightweight and fits nicely into hire cars with all your luggage included.

I think thats about it really. It wasn’t easy but we survived to tell the tale! I will have a few more posts lined up relating to our recent holiday, hope you are all well my Worpress friends! Ta ta and good night xxx

Sunshine Blogger Award

I am aware that this is a very late post, life has just got in the way of everything recently. Ho hum, that’s how it goes! The very lovely Katherine of Welcome to the Nursery nominated me for a Sunshine Blogger Award a little while ago and I thought it was about time I answer her questions:) Thank you Catherine, big hugs to you! I will also spread the sunshine by nominating some blogger friends and ask them to answer 10 questions. Please accept my nomination my lovely WordPress chums xxx

Here goes….

When were you happiest in the last week and why? Sunday, because the sun was shining and we could all play outdoors! When the little tyke went for a nap, we also took the opportunity to sit in the garden with a lovely cup of tea while the sun beamed down on us (don’t worry I had the baby monitor with me!). Bliss!

Do you have a favorite creative endeavor? Drawing and writing. Now I am a Mummy, I love drawing and doodling with the little man. He really loves painting too! He is such a creative little fella…… an artist in the making me thinks 🙂

What’s your favorite drink (if you drink alcohol)? Champagne, if money is no object. If we are on a budget, a bottle of bud will do the job. I do realise those two choices make me go from very ladylike to sooooo un-ladylike.

Who makes you laugh the most? Oh gosh this is a tough one. My brother really makes me laugh a lot, we share the same warped sense of humour. Must run in the family!

What is your dream profession? Lady of leisure…. only joking. I like the job I do most of the time. It has it’s moments like most jobs.

Do you have a big life goal on your bucket list? What is it? To go on a California road trip with my son and husband. That would be awesome!!!

If you could live any celebrity or athlete’s life, whose would it be? I wouldn’t want to be famous and I do not have any interest in celebrities. Actually, I would like to be the Queen, wouldn’t it be interesting to be the Queen for a day!

Do you tend a garden? What are your favorite bits in it? Do hanging baskets and mowing the lawn count? We have a lovely weeping willow in our garden and we tell our son it is the magic tree. He loves to hide behind it and we have to pretend that we don’t know where he has gone. Cheeky monkey!

What is your favorite sport to do? Oh I am so not sporty! I like walking.

What was your favorite travel spot so far? Its between two, Mexico and California.

I would like to nominate…..

Danielle Louise

Creating a childrens reading corner

reading corner

My little boy is a little adventurer and loves to climb chairs, sofas, boxes, slides, steps, ladders, coffee tables …….. need I go on? One of the items that he particulary likes to climb on, is the old nursing chair in his bedroom. “Its gotta go!” I cried to my husband! That same weekend we went into Aldi to find some planters for the front of the house and whilst in the store I picked up one of their weekly flyers. They advertised some new playroom accessories that would be available from Sunday 30th May (still available now in store and online!). This included the following items –

Playroom Rug – £29.99 (available in pink spots, grey stars & blue clouds)

Playroom Beanbag – £16.99 (available in pink spots, grey stars & blue stars)

Playroom Cushion – £8.99 (available in pink spots, grey stars & blue stars)

Playroom Teepee – £39.99 (available in pink spots, grey stars & blue stripes)

I felt inspired to move the nursing chair out of the bedroom once and for all and in its place, create a lovely reading corner for the little tyke. I purchased the teepee, beanbag and playroom cushion in grey (with it being quite a fashionable colour at the moment and it goes with everything).

A great big comfy beanbig to complete the look!

Why did you not get the rug I hear you cry? Well, the rug looked of perfectly good quality, but we already had a rug in the room from Ikea (you can see a teeny bit of it in the top picture).

The little tyke was very excited when he first got into his room and saw the big changes, but he has slowly gotten used to it. It is a lovely calm and quiet spot for us to sit and read together before he has a nap or goes to bed. We love it! Inside the teepee I have placed the new grey plaroom cushion with stars and a few of his cushions from Ikea (sun cushions and cloud cushions).

I am really pleased with the end result and it has definitely helped with the bedtime routine. My little man is changing all the time and we need to adapt with him.

What do you think to our little reading corner?

I hope you all have a lovely evening folks, ta ta for now xx
